A three-spot in the bottom of the first inning was all the offense that Rosie Follet needed on Monday.

The Easthampton ace struck out seven and scattered five hits, as the Eagles took down Agawam 3-1 in an independent softball game at Nonotuck Park. 

Ana Growhowski had two hits for Easthampton (3-2), which received first-inning RBIs from Follet, Sophia Faginski and Makenna Slate. 

Agawam scored its lone run in the top of the second inning, but Follet shut the Brownies down from there and the Easthampton defense didn’t commit an error behind her.

Frontier 15, Wahconah 3 – It was a birthday to remember for Skyler Steele.

The Frontier slugger smacked a home run and drove in five runs as the Redhawks cruised to victory over Wahconah at Zabek Field in South Deerfield.

Steele also had a single in the win for Frontier, which received a walk-off single from Olivia Machon in the sixth inning to secure the run-ruled victory. Raine Wonsey gave up just four hits and four walks over six innings to earn the win. Ashley Taylor, Delaney Fifield, Machon, Sophia Pinardi, Hailey Hutkoski and Adelaide Ehle had multiple hits as part of an 18-hit Hawks attack. 

Southwick 18, Smith Academy 16 – Emma Moynihan scored four times, and also had two hits and two RBIs to aid the Falcons in a tight loss on Monday.

Caitlin Graves had two hits, two runs and an RBI for Smith Academy, while Emilia Neves (two hits, two runs, two RBIs), Marissa Belins (two hits, two RBIs) and Meghan Bell (two hits, two runs, RBI) were also key offensive performers on the afternoon.

South Hadley 5, Minnechaug 1 – Another gem from Ella Schaeffer on Monday propelled the Tigers to 6-1 on the season.

Schaeffer struck out 17 and didn’t walk a batter, allowing just four hits in the circle. The offense was sparked by Jenna Bobrowski, who was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Ara Powers (two hits, three RBIs). Schaeffer helped herself at the plate with two hits, including a triple, and an RBI.

Gateway 14, Smith Voc 8 — Sawyer Wilkinson smacked four hits and Kaitlyn Maynard roped three hits as the Gators picked up a victory on Monday.

Makayla Tatro was 4-for-4 with three RBIs to pace the Vikings.

SICS 13, Holyoke 3 – Kylie Blaha tripled for Holyoke in Monday’s loss, and also struck out five in the circle.

Boys lacrosse

Belchertown 18, Smith Voc 3 — Three Orioles ripped off four-goal outings to lead them in a blowout win over the Vikings on Monday. Rylan Queiros, Charlie Fijal and Nico St. George (three assists) combined for the dozen scores, while Steven Ryan added two of his own and Vincent Ting notched four points (one goal, three assists).

Jake Adams scored for Smith Voc, which didn’t tally its first goal until the third quarter.

Girls lacrosse

Hampshire 12, Pittsfield 4 — Another monster performance from Anna Puttick (four goals, one assist) helped the Raiders score a dozen goals in a road win over Pittsfield on Monday.

Ryleigh Fennessy tallied two goals while six other Hampshire players each scored once. Abby Hennessy (six saves) and Ava Gougeon (one save) split time in net for the Raiders.

Boys tennis

Belchertown 5, Chicopee Comp 0 — It was nothing but pure dominance coming off the rackets of the Orioles on Monday in a straight set sweep of the Colts.

Trevor Weiss (first singles, 6-0, 6-0), Graham Guardenfield (second singles, 6-3, 6-1), Luke Dudek (third singles, 6-1, 6-1), Jake Gormely and Cam Kaczowka (first doubles, 6-1, 6-2) and Mason Pobieglo and Tyler Burrows  (second doubles, 6-2, 6-0) each picked up victories for  Belchertown.

Girls tennis

SICS 3, Frontier 2 – The   Redhawks won both doubles matches but couldn’t find a singles victory on Monday.

Esther Ehle and Kayla Fagan were 6-1, 6-0 winners  at No. 1 doubles for Frontier, and the second doubles pairing of Aylen Shaw and Araceli McCoy captured a 6-0, 6-3 win.

South Hadley 5, Central 0 – Abby Ngure won the match of the day at No. 2 singles, capturing a 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 win to help the Tigers to a 5-0 sweep.

The No. 1 doubles team of Maddie Soderbaum and Mag gie Evans won 6-2, 6-0 for South Hadley, and the No. 2 doubles team of Vivian Marion and Zenniyah Valenzuela earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory.

Sarah Cormier (6-1, 6-0) cruised at first singles and Cara Dean won a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 3.

Northampton 5, Agawam 0 — Ursula Von Goeler swept her first singles opponent, 6-0, 6-0, to pace the Blue Devils to a flawless victory on Monday.

Summer Sorensen won 6-0, 6-2 at second singles and Bess King Pollet earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory at third singles to round out individual play. At first doubles, Julia Krivoy-Einhorn and Giselle Ohm scraped out a 6-4, 7-6 win while Margaux Galvio and Emi Warren breezed to a 6-2, 6-2 triumph.

Boys volleyball

Minnechaug 3, Belchertown 0 – Brian Burns’ seven kills were tops for the Orioles in a 25-11, 25-16, 25-17 loss on Monday.

Rainer Kristensen finished with 13 assists, and Zach Dragon added four kills.

Granby 3, Sci-Tech 0 — That’s how to bounce back after a loss.

Following their first defeat of the spring, the Rams responded with a sweep over Sci-Tech. Set scores were 25-17, 27-25, 25-19.

Track & field

Frontier 124, Mahar 21 (girls); Frontier 100, Mahar 45 (boys) — Lilly Novak won the shot (27-11.75), discus (91-0) and javelin (78-10) while Hannah Davis took the long jump (14-4.5), triple jump (30-1) and 100 hurdles (17.7) lifting the Redhawks past the Senators in South Deerfield Monday.

On the boys side, Evan Hedlund set the Frontier school record in the 2 mile (9:57.8) while Alex Schreiber won the shot put (34-9.5) and the discus (118-10).

Belchertown 3, Minnechaug 2 — Another match, another dominant showing from Trevor Weiss at first singles. The Orioles senior defeated Kelvin Ohemeng 6-3, 6-3 to continue his hot stretch of play for Belchertown.

Josh O’Connor earned a forfeit win at No. 3 singles, while Tyler Burrows and Luke Dudek got the best of the Falcons’ Josh Lawrence and Nathan Bosworth at second doubles to round out the Orioles winners.

Boys volleyball

West Springfield 3, South Hadley 0 — The Tigers were overpowered by western Mass. power West Springfield on Friday night, as they fell in straight sets to fall to 2-4 in their inaugural season.

Set scores were 25-10, 25-19, 25-11.

Beau Briere (one kill, eight digs, 1.5 blocks), Connor Racine-Rocheleau (three kills, one dig, 2.5 blocks) and Junoon Giridhar (one kill, six assists, two digs, 0.5 blocks) led the way for South Hadley.
