Alpine skiing: Edward Przybyla, Hampshire Regional shine in PVIAC Race No. 5

It was a big day for the Hampshire boys alpine ski team on Tuesday in the fifth PVIAC race of the season at Berkshire East Mountain Resort in Charlemont. 

Hampshire’s Edward Przybyla was the overall winner, completing the giant slalom course in a time of 29.40 seconds, while three other Hampshire racers joined him in the top 10. 

Dawson Kelly placed fifth (31.62), Evan Novak earned sixth (32.67) and Jon Dunn finished in seventh (32.83) while Billy Warren took 17th (34.34) for the Raiders. 

Amherst’s Beckett Baird took third (30.66) while fellow Hurricane Ben Haugsjaahabin earned 25th (35.58). Northampton also placed two racers in the top 25, led by Charlie Ames in ninth (33.23) and Keller Mahoney in 15th (34.27). 

Clayton English (14th, 33.8), Teddy Scott (18th, 34.77) and James Scott (20th, 35.04) cracked the top 25 for PVCICS. 

In the girls’ race, Hampshire’s Dana Warren earned a fifth place finish with a time of 51.54 seconds on the slalom course. Fellow Raider Talya Gilman placed 15th with a time of 1:00.99. 

Northampton had three girls in the top 25, with Giselle Ohm placing 13th (1:00.32), Simone Pager taking 21st (1:04.58) and Maisie Tuck earning 23rd (1:05.18).

PVCICS’s Sarah Fardal took seventh (52.84) and Amherst’s Vivi Bernier placed 20th (1:04.3) to pace their squads.
