WORTHINGTON — Voters will be asked to approve municipal spending and two proposed amendments to zoning bylaws when they convene Saturday for Town Meeting.

Several department budgets show a substantial increase for 2025, with the $1.5 million school budget up by 9%, or $125,719, from current year spending, and spending on the county retirement and insurance system up by $117,413, or 16.7%.

Vocational education expenses are set to rise by 11.2%, or $32,196, while on the positive side, payback to the Gateway school district will drop by almost $22,000.

The public health and safety budget is up by $28,170 at $218,609, a 14.8% increase driven largely by a $19,000 increase in Hilltown Ambulance costs.

Proposed Fire Department spending shows an increase of $7,625 or 12.6%, while the police budget is up $8,665, or 4.75%. Highway spending at $652,842 is up $24,025, or 3.8%.

General government is growing by 4.7% at $544,203, while salaries for elected officials are up by 2.5%.

The library is level funded, while cemetery maintenance costs have gone down slightly.

Total town and school spending tops $4.5 million.

Voters will also be asked to appropriate $14,458 from the stabilization fund for a new waste oil furnace for the highway garage, and to approve a transfer of $162,805 from free cash to the stabilization fund.

The proposed zoning amendments both relate to outdoor recreation, according to information from the Planning Board. They seek to make a distinction between long-term uses, which are allowed under special permit issued by the Zoning Board of Appeals, and temporary uses, which may be allowed under an event permit issued by the Select Board.

Town Meeting begins at 9:30 a.m.
