NORTHAMPTON — The Northampton Democratic City Committee (NDCC) will hold its annual caucus and meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m.
The event will be held in the community room at the JFK Middle School in Northampton.
Attendees will elect delegates and alternates to the 2017 Massachusetts State Convention that will be held on June 3 in Lowell.
Any Northampton residents registered as Democrats by the day of the caucus can vote and run as a delegate. Delegates will be divided equally between men and women. Ballots will be anonymous.
Immediately following the caucus, the NDCC will hold a meeting to address concerns about the administration of newly inaugurated President Donald J. Trump.
“People are concerned about the future of civil rights, climate action, funding for vulnerable populations and many other important issues,” NDCC chairwoman Elizabeth Silver said in a statement. “As Democrats, we need to consider how we will preserve our freedom and the actions we will need to take in this fight.”
Attendees will discuss ideas stemming from the Fight for Freedom forum held in Northampton in December. Pizza will be provided at the event, which is scheduled to conclude around 8:30 p.m.
