WORTHINGTON — The Links At Worthington will welcome Jon Pousette-Dart and his band on Aug. 26, at the only stop in western Massachusetts of his tour.

“We’re getting really serious about music,” said David Pollard, who co-owns the Links with his wife, Helen.

He said that the concert will be the first big concert at the Links this year, and its design is to set the stage for a series of concerts in 2022.

“We’d love to make this a music venue,” said Pollard. “Golfers like music. Musicians play golf.”

Pousette-Dart is a folk and rock singer-songwriter, who helped to found the Pousette-Dart Band in the 1970s.

“People my age grew up listening to the Jon Pousette-Dart Band,” said Pollard.

Pollard said that patrons will still be able to play nine holes of golf on the day of the concert, because the natural amphitheater where the concert will be located only overlays with one of the course’s 10 holes. Jon Pousette-Dart will be the first artist to play in this amphitheater.

“We could not be more excited to host Pousette-Dart this summer at the Links,” said David and Helen Pollard, in an announcement. “We have fond memories of seeing Pousette-Dart live back in the day and cannot wait for this special evening of great music by this great artist.”

Helen Pollard said that Pousette-Dart playing the course was kind of a full-circle moment, and she noted that she used to follow the Pousette-Dart Band when she was in college. She said that she expects people in their 50s, 60s and 70s to come out to the concert.

“If there’s one thing COVID taught us, or brought back to us, it’s a sense of community,” said Helen Pollard. “Bringing this band here brings us back to experiences we had as kids.”

Pollard said that she hopes to hear “May You Dance Forever,” which she said reminds her of summers in college.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.pousette-dart.com/tours and are on sale now. All tickets will be $30 plus processing fees.

“Very much looking forward to playing back in the Berkshires,” Jon Pousette-Dart said in a statement. “We played so many great rooms out there including the old Rusty Nail, which was a frequent room we played many times back in the ’70s. Will be with Eric Parker, longtime drummer with PDB, Jim Chapdelaine, superb guitar slinger who has been working with me for over two decades now, and my old bud Steve Roues on bass, who I played with back in high school.”

In an interview, Pousette-Dart said that he hasn’t toured since the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

“We like everybody else are anxious to get back to the road,” Pousette-Dart said. “It’s been a long time for all of us.”

He also noted that his website has a lot of music and videos that fans can enjoy, and that “there’s been a consistent release of material” during the pandemic.

Pousette-Dart noted that he was based in Cambridge for a while and that Massachusetts has a lot of “really really good fans,” throughout the state.

“It seems like a really good group of people,” said Pousette-Dart, of the Worthington concert. “We’re looking forward to it.”

He also said that they’ll be playing a wide swath of material at the concert, and that “May You Dance Forever,” will be among the songs played.
