HOLYOKE — A Chicopee man has been identified as the victim in a possible shootout that occurred in the area of 119 Nonotuck St. Saturday evening, according to the Hampden County district attorney’s office.

Alex Larkin, 25, was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound when Holyoke Police arrived at the scene, said Jim Leydon, spokesman for the district attorney’s office. Larkin later died from his injuries, Leydon said.

The incident that led to Larkin’s death remains under investigation.

Holyoke Police Capt. Matthew F. Moriarty, commander of the city’s Criminal Investigation Bureau, issued an advisory about the incident that alerted officials about Holyoke police officers being dispatched to the intersection of Nonotuck and Hampden streets around 7:20 p.m.

Officers were joined in the response by members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Massachusetts State Police Crime Prevention and Control Unit.

Western Mass News, a Springfield television station, reported that evening two people on a porch were injured by gunshots and taken to area hospitals for treatment.
