The Valley Blue Sox drew five walks and struck out 10 batters on their way to a second consecutive victory Saturday night, defeating the North Shore Navigators by a score of 5-1.

The team improved to 2-2 on the season.

The Blue Sox capitalized on three walks in the bottom of the first inning, scoring two runs off of two consecutive hit batters with the bases loaded. EJ Kreutzmann and Matt Garcia each earned an RBI for being hit by a pitch.

In the bottom of the second inning the Blue Sox were able to score two more runs after four singles. Matthew Bergevin and Kreutzmann both had RBI singles, driving in Cian Sahler and Eliot Dix.

Once again the bullpen was lights out for the Blue Sox, with Terry Murray, a returning player from the 2022 season, pitching three shutout innings with two strikeouts to earn himself the win.

Harrison Durow slammed the door for the Blue Sox, striking out seven batters to earn himself a nine-out save.

The Navigators were able to take one run back in the top of the seventh inning, following an RBI single for Henry Kaczmar, but the Blue Sox answered back with another insurance run in the bottom of the eighth. Jeff Pierantoni was able to advance to third and score using some heads-up baserunning after a passed ball and wild pitch.

The Blue Sox will hope to make it three in a row Sunday afternoon at MacKenzie Stadium, when they take on the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks at 3:00 p.m., debuting their Sunday alternate uniforms.
