It’s been an honor and a life changing experience to serve as the Northampton Ward 5 city councilor these past five and a half years. Thank you to everyone who’s supported me and all the wonderful and challenging conversations I’ve had with my constituents.

I’m excited to support Aline Davis for Ward 5 councilor. In going door-to-door with her, I’ve found her to be thoughtful, kind and a good listener. I’m confident that she’ll continue my goals of regular and timely communication, responsiveness, and collaboration.

Aline brings a wealth of experience with schools from her two terms on the School Committee and 20-plus years as a classroom teacher, and understands and advocates for the needs of students. She also sees the realities of the fiscal environment and the need to support other city services.

We share many values that I’ve been working for during my tenure as councilor: housing affordability, including support for renters and public housing; support for in-town development while balancing our need for trees and green space; safe and sustainable transportation for all modes, including walking, cycling, public transit and motor vehicles; climate goals; economic development that is pro-worker and pro-union; continuing anti-racism work; and supporting the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, immigrants, those who are unhoused, and people with disabilities, to name a few.

There’s a lot of change happening in Florence Center, with new mixed-use and residential buildings in progress or recently built. Aline will listen to the business community and residents as the council looks at the challenges and opportunities.

There is a preliminary election on Tuesday, Sept. 16. I hope you will join me in voting for Aline Davis for Ward 5 city councilor!
