What wonderful news that Kristen Smidy has been nominated to join the Massachusetts Board of Education! I had the pleasure of working alongside her, as the superintendent of the Gateway Regional School District while consulting with the Collaborative for Educational Services. She impressed me with the depth of her knowledge of education theory and practice as well as her skills as a leader. In these days of professionals not being respected and honored for their knowledge, Kristen Smidy is an example of how educators must be consulted and turned to as schools struggle to find their footing in the current landscape. My very best wishes to her for her tenure on the board and profound gratitude for her willingness to serve.
