Easthampton, the newest destination city of the Pioneer Valley, is electing a brand spanking new mayor in November. I will be voting for Lindsi Sekula, and let me tell you why.
Lindsi Sekula has a deep understanding of how things run in the city and all the ins and outs of the leadership position because of her experience working in the mayorโs office for the last seven years. From her employee role in the innermost administrative bowels of the city she has observed Easthampton handle growth, controversy, and the many issues that threatened us during the pandemic. She knows the work that goes into identifying, learning, and solving the myriad issues facing a city, and has taken the opportunity to build relationships with both city and state officials that she can lean on to the advantage of Easthampton.
We have two other mayoral candidates from whom I have seen no indication that they understand the full impact of what is required of a mayor. While one candidate is focused on making sure people know he will โlistenโ to the community with no indication of what happens after the listening, and another candidate who has recently been rapidly acting on random ideas that spontaneously โcame to himโ instead of referring to the cityโs strategic plan or previous carefully generated and vetted ideas for improvement. Sekula has a thoughtful plan for taking the city forward without disruption and toward the needs and desires already identified by the cityโs residents.
I trust that Sekula has the experience, the knowledge, the desire, and the ability to lead Easthampton and keep us a vibrant city where we all thrive. Sekula is the only candidate actively seeking out input from all constituent groups and who has given real, concrete responses to how she would handle the needs of the city. Lindsi Sekula is the only candidate I believe can do a bang up great job as mayor.
