I am a Ward 4 resident and I am delighted to be writing in Megan Wolf’s name to be our Ward 4 School Committee member this Nov. 4. Until just a few days ago, our ward had no competition for School Committee. As a true believer in democracy, having a choice is only a great thing for our ward.
Second, we are so lucky that a candidate as talented as Megan has decided to run. We have a lot to do as a city next year, including selecting a new superintendent and possibly addressing a loss of funding from the national level. Megan fills every need. She is the parent of children in the Northampton public schools. She has served congresspeople as their legislative director and worked on defending public education with teachers’ unions and community organizations. She has the experience and skill at all the levels we need now.
Finally, she understands the role of the School Committee which is to meet our needs for good management, oversight and budgeting, and she understands that this is a non-political position that focuses solely on ensuring we continue to raise up our excellent public schools.
I am ready for a new beginning in our ward, with someone who is willing to debate the issues with the competition, and willing to speak the truth to myself and my neighbors. I am writing Megan Wolf’s name on my ballot for School Committee in Ward 4.
