Northampton, MA – It is with deep sorrow that the family of Mary “Pat” Early announces her peaceful passing on 12-10-2025, at the age of 101.
Born in Boston to John H. McElroy and Anna E. Walsh on September 17, 1924. She was raised in Everett, Massachusetts, by her loving grandparents Patrick and Ella (Peddle) Walsh, following the passing of her mother at the age of two years while her father continued to serve as a career Navy man. A devout Catholic, her faith guided her life, and her greatest love was always her family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward F Early, who passed away 38 years ago. She was also preceded in death by her father John and her two brothers John H. McElroy and Thomas McElroy.
She is survived by her 4 children. Edward and Thomas Early of Auburn Ma., Ma and John of Holden Ma. She also had one daughter Mary EarlyWebber and her husband Richard of Southampton Ma. Also bereft will be her four grandchildren, Katelyn Webber Schubmehl and her husband Brian of Marblehead Ma., Brian Webber and his wife Alexandra Harvey of Charlestown Ma., Andrew Early and his wife Katie Earlyof Newburyport Ma and Caroline Early-Duclos and husband Daniel Duclos from Holden Ma. Her hugs and kisses will also be missed by her nine great grandchildren. Eleanor, Anna and William Schubmehl, Harriet Estelle Webber, Aidan, Emma and Abigail Early, John Edward (JED) and Erin Duclos.
She is survived by her sisters Joanna Kuhn of Georgia and Julie Hu of Taipei, Taiwan. Her sisters in law Claire R Collins of Worcester and Ann Marie Hawkes of Santa Barbara CA. She is survived by many friends and acquaintances who were blessed by her quiet strength and kindness.
All of her family and friends are grateful for her long life and take comfort in knowing she did pass in comfort and she is now at peace.
Calling hours will be held on 12-30-2025 from 9:00AM to 10:30AM at Czelusniak Funeral Home, Northampton Ma. There will be a Catholic Mass celebration of life service at 11:00AM at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church Easthampton Ma. Burial will be in the Spring of 2026 at St John’s Cemetery, Worcester, MA.
