The second PVIAC indoor track meet of the season saw multiple first-place finishes from area athletes and relay squads this past Sunday at Smith College.
Both of Amherst’s 4×400-meter relay teams claimed first overall, with the boys quartet winning in three minutes, 38.45 seconds, while the girls crossed the finish line in 4:18.88.
Five Hurricanes individuals won events, including Daniel Nunez Saravia (300, 38.31), Owen Platt (600, 1:26.83), Ella Austin (600, 1:41.85), Nina Holden (1,000, 3:24.83) and Juliana Albo (long jump, 15-09).
Northampton’s girls duo of Mairead O’Neil and Allie Sullivan snagged first-place finishes in the 2 mile (12:18.51) and the high jump (4-10), respectively, to cap off Hampshire County competitors in the late meet.
During the early wave, Hampshire Regional’s Owen Cubi and Brooke Hockenberry were the first finishers in the boys and girls mile. Cubi crossed in 4:42.64 while Hockenberry concluded in 5:34.36.
Yasani Thompson scurried past the competition in the 300, winning in 42.03 as Holyoke’s lone first-place finisher.
