AMHERST — Members of the Amherst Town Council and other elected boards and committees in town will be formally sworn into office Monday evening.

The fourth iteration of the 13-member Town Council, which has four new members, begins its two-year tenure at 6:30 p.m. at Town Room at Town Hall.

Town Manager Paul Bockelman said Town Clerk Amber Martin will be on hand for the ceremony, followed by the election of a president and vice president.

The Town Council’s new members are At Large Councilor Andy Churchill, District 1 Councilor Jill Brevik, District 2 Councilor Amber Cano-Martin and District 5 Councilor Sam MacLeod.

Since the inaugural council was seated in December 2018, District 2 Councilor Lynn Griesemer has served continuously as president, winning election at the reorganization each January.

After the reorganization is complete, a list of the committees will be presented and a discussion will take place on the process for appointing councilors to serve on those.

The Charter Review Committee is also expected to deliver its final report and do a presentation on its contents.

Before the meeting begins, the town photographer will be taking portraits of the councilors and there is expected to be a group photo, as well.

The Amherst School Committee has a meeting posted for Monday at 6 p.m. at the high school library for its own reorganization.
