LOUIS GINGRAS

Northampton, MA – Louis Gingras, 61, died on Friday January 16 at Baystate Medical in Springfield, after a battle with cancer. He was born in Northampton, on December 11, 1964, the son of the late Louis and Dolly (Cadwell) Gingras.

Lou graduated from Smith Vocational and worked all his life as a builder and contractor. He loved working with his hands and always looked forward to his next job. Lou found a great new community of friends when he joined The Northampton Elks Lodge #997. He loved volunteering whenever he could and found meaning in the charitable work the lodge did for the surrounding communities. Lou eventually took on more and more commitments at the lodge leading him to become the Head of the Lodge- The Exalted Ruler.

Lou leaves his sister Jo-Ann Gingras Gregory, his wife Ellen Sawicki, his daughter Amy Gingras, his step-children Mindee Hodgkins and Keith Hodgkins, brother in laws Gary Holman, Stanley Sawicki and Sam Russell, sister in laws Joann Holman, Susan Russell and Heidi Sawicki, his mother-in-law Nancy Sawicki, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Calling Hours at the Czelusniak Funeral Home will be held on Saturday January 24 from 10am-12pm with an Elks Service at 11:45am. An In-House Service will follow at 12pm.
