STEVEN R. KIERAS

Hadley, MA – Steven R. Kieras, a longtime resident of Hadley, MA, passed away unexpectedly on December 19, 2025.

Steven, a 1969 graduate of Hopkins Academy, enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country for six years during the Vietnam War. He returned home where he obtained a position at the Veteran’s Administration in Leeds, MA, retiring after thirty years of dedicated service.

Steven had a lifelong love of the outdoors, fishing as a child and hiking the local mountains up to the days before passing. He was an avid reader and had a keen interest in history, world events, and the sciences, especially chemistry. He also spent many hours repairing cars, sometimes adding features to improve their performance.

Steven was predeceased by his parents, Stephen A. and Barbara (Thompson) Kieras, his brothers, Paul and Mark, his sister, Andrea Clark and his nephew Nathan. He leaves his siblings, Gail Kermensky (George), Gwen Washburn (Duncan), Beth Szymanski (Mark), his nephews and nieces Jeremiah Kermensky (Saima), Adrienne Skyler (David), Jahanna Kazak (Brian), Gabraelle Washburn, Matthew Clark, Daniel Szymanski, and Cassandra (Kai) Szymanski. He leaves one great niece Ella Kermensky, many cousins, extended family and friends.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday February 6 from 4pm-6pm at the Czelusniak Funeral Home, 173 North Street, Northampton, MA. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday February 7 at 10am at the Most Holy Redeemer Church with burial to follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery.
