Hockey East unveiled its nominees for several awards on Monday afternoon, including the finalists for Player of the Year and Coach of the Year.
UMass goalie Michael Hrabal joined Boston College forward James Hagens and Boston University defenseman Cole Hutson as the three finalists for the Player of the Year award, while Greg Carvel joined Merrimack’s Scott Borek and Providence’s Nate Leaman as finalists for the Bob Cullen Award Coach of the Year award.
Hrabal currently has the third best save-percentage in the country (.936), with at least 15 games played, while Carvel clinched his seventh 20-plus win season with the Minutemen, since taking over in 2016-17.
Last week, Hrabal was the lone unanimous selection for the Hockey East First Team All-Stars squad, while Larry Keenan and Jack Musa were picked for the Second Team All-Stars.
The Minutemen advanced to the Hockey East semifinals after beating Northeastern, 4-1, on Saturday, March 14.
UMass will take on Merrimack at the TD Garden in Boston on Friday, March 20.
Puck drop is set for 4 p.m.
