  • The unseasonably cold weather has caused local anglers to become rather gloomy concerning early fishing prospects. Unless warm weather is had within the near future there will be few trout in the streams in this vicinity when the season opens the 15th.
  • The Charleston contest at the Calvin theater Tuesday night has attracted entrants from far and near. These are Jack Cullen of Providence, David Gleason of Chicopee Falls, and Steve Jason of Holyoke. There is still time for local or other entries. Names may be left at the theater as late as Tuesday evening.

  • Northampton police yesterday issued a warning concerning the sale of possibly contaminated candy in the area by a group known as the Unification Church. The candy, which is being sold door-to-door, is said to be contained in a light blue box with stars and stripes across it. Northampton police said that representatives of the Unification Church are now in the area.
  • In Easthampton, some 200 people attended the official opening of the new $2.3-million Tubed Products, Inc., plant on O’Neill Street on Wednesday. The plant has been operating since last September, when the company moved some of its machines and personnel from its main facility on Pleasant Street.
