Lyracle to perform its spring concert on April 18
The historical music performance ensemble Lyracle, which specializes in music for viol and voice, will perform its spring 2026 concert at Lyman Hall at First Churches in Northampton on Saturday, April 18, from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
The show is set up in the style of “a musical afternoon in a fairy-tale-worthy German castle spent with the immensely talented Sophie Elisabeth, August II, and their six children,” according to the event description. Performers will include mezzo-soprano Ashley Mulcahy and violists James Perretta, Karen Burciaga, Judah Coffman and Guinevere Fridley.
After the show, concertgoers will be invited to take part in a “sing and play” as well as tea and cookies. All voices, instruments and levels are welcome.

Wild & Scenic Film Festival to feature a selection of nine short, inspiring films
The Kestrel Land Trust and Smith College Center for the Environment, Ecological Design, and Sustainability (CEEDS) will host the Wild & Scenic Film Festival at Smith Collegeโs Weinstein Auditorium in Wright Hall on Friday, April 17 at 7 p.m. The evening will run two hours with an intermission.
The event will feature nine short films about nature, environmentalism and conservation.

Pop singer MARIS to perform at The Drake
Rising pop artist MARIS brings her โMARIS Goes To Collegeโ spring tour to The Drake in Amherst on Thursday, April 23 at 8 p.m. The nationwide run, which wraps May 3, follows a surge of momentum around her latest single โBody Is On Fire,โ which has racked up nearly 500,000 stream. According to a press release, MARIS is known for her bold, โ80s-tinged sound and dynamic live shows. The artist continues to gain attention from outlets like Paper Magazine and Rolling Stone as she emerges as one of popโs rising stars.
The April 23 show features performer Louisa Stancioff, who was born and raised in rural Maine. She grew up learning traditional Bulgarian music from her paternal grandfatherโs side of the family and reveled in singing American folk and roots tunes with her friends. Her debut album, “When We Were Looking,” was released in April 2024 with Yep Roc Records. She has now toured it extensively, opening for renown bands such as Darlingside, Blitzen Trapper, Pokey Lafarge and more, and is in the works of recording her second album.

Smith College presents Senior Dance Concert
The Smith College Department of Dance presents โOrbit,โ its 2026 Senior Dance Concert, April 9-11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hallie Flanagan Studio Theatre in Northampton.
The program features five original works by graduating seniors: Sadie Arundaleโs โIn the Frizz,โ an exploration of growth and transformation; Addie Bowenโs โchemical murmuration,โ inspired by complexity theory and collective movement; Audrey Garfinkelโs โSwing Theory,โ a playful study of rhythm and momentum; Dahlia Riddingtonโs โLeveling,โ examining fear and fearlessness; and Isa Skareโs โTrance-End,โ evoking states of curiosity, chaos and connection.

Audition for โFiddler on the Roofโ
Valley Light Opera will hold auditions for its fall production of Fiddler on the Roof at Wesley United Methodist Church April 17โ19, with callbacks on April 20.
Auditions run Friday, April 17, from 6 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Sunday, April 19, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Performers should sign up for a time slot in advance and prepare to read dialogue and sing for desired roles; dancers may register for dance-only slots.
An optional audition workshop will be held April 13 at 7 p.m., offering a chance to meet the production team, learn the process and rehearse material.

Northampton Center for the Arts holds annual fundraiser
The Northampton Center for the Arts will hold its annual fundraiser, โRevelry at 33,โ at 33 Hawley in Northampton on Saturday, April 11 at 7 p.m.
The event will include live music from the Favala Jazz Trio and The O-Tones; a bar with beer, wine and cocktails from Spoleto; a silent auction; an art sale featuring works from the inaugural cohort of AMP it Up! artists; food by Seth Mias Catering; a performance from bellydancer Sherine; on-the-spot poetry by Dane Kuttler; and tarot readings from Heatherโs Parlor.

Auditions set for fall production of ‘Rocky Horror Show’
K and E Theater Group will hold auditions for its fall production of The Rocky Horror Show on April 12-13 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Southampton.
The company is seeking actors, singers and dancers for principal, featured and ensemble roles; all roles except the narrator are open. Performers of all backgrounds are encouraged to audition. Appointments are required, with five-minute slots available.

Holyoke Pride hosts documentary screening April 16
Holyoke Pride will host a screening of the documentary”1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture” at the Holyoke Senior Center on Thursday, April 16, from 7 to 10 p.m. The evening will feature a live Q&A with singer Mary Lambert, the film’s composer.
The film explores how the word โhomosexualโ first appeared in the 1946 Revised Standard Version of the Bible and how that translation “shaped decades of misunderstanding and harm toward LGBTQIA+ people,” according to a press release. “Through the work of researchers, historians, and faith leaders, the film examines the origins of this translation and its lasting cultural impact.”
