A bicyclist struck by a vehicle at the intersection of North Pleasant Street and Butterfield Terrace at 7:57 p.m. Tuesday sought treatment at the University of Massachusetts infirmary, police said. No citations were issued and police are investigating the crash.
Numerous political lawn signs on Fearing Street and Allen Street were reported stolen at 11:14 a.m. Tuesday.
Amanda M. Chapin, 33, of 85 Briggs St., was arrested on Cottage Street on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and interfering with a police officer at 1:22 p.m. Sunday.
Chapin approached an officer who was conducting a traffic stop and allegedly said “I’m here to protect him,” in reference to the man who had been stopped. The man said he did not know Chapin.
Chapin allegedly would not get out of the middle of the road after being told by the officer to do so and proceeded to push him. Chapin was eventually pepper-sprayed after allegedly fighting with two officers, police said.
The man who had been stopped was let off with a warning for a minor violation, according to police.
Police were called at 12:40 p.m. Saturday after a loose dog jumped the backyard fence of a Florence Road home and attacked a dog that was in the yard, leaving it with a cut on its nose. The case was referred to Westfield Animal Control, which has a contract with the city to handle such issues.
Herman Waden, 54, of Hartford, Connecticut, was arrested on Union Street on a charge of shoplifting by concealing merchandise at 5 p.m. Friday after allegedly stealing a bottle of Tanqueray gin from Union Package Store.
Police are trying to identify a suspect who used a key to scratch a vehicle parked at Hampshire Health & Fitness, 90 Gatehouse Road, in an incident reported by the owner at 6:57 p.m. Tuesday.
