Quabbin Reservoir, Route 9, Belchertown

Photograph and text by Deb Guiel, South Hadley

In early May I had visited this little stream in Belchertown at the Quabbin Reservoir, but there was not very much water running. A week later on Mother’s Day, after a rainy morning, I revisited the stream and found that not only was there more water, but the vegetation was lush, and the overcast and drizzly conditions made the greens much brighter.

I set my DSLR camera and medium telephoto lens on the tripod, composed the shot, and created this image using a slow shutter speed, which enabled me to show the motion of the flowing water.
