WHATELY — Town Administrator Mark A. Pruhenski does not expect much controversy from the 11 town meeting articles recommended by the Capital Planning Committee.
Most of Articles 9 through 19 pertain to maintenance and repairs to municipal buildings or vehicles and Pruhenski said they likely will not generate much debate.
Town Meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Article 9 seeks the largest amount, $145,000 which would be borrowed to purchase a new plow-equipped dump truck for the Highway Department. Pruhenski said the money would be borrowed from a bank and paid back over not more than three years.
The article requires a two-thirds majority for adoption because it involves borrowing money, instead of raising and appropriating it, Pruhenski said.
Pruhenski said a dump truck made in 2000 needs replacement.
He said the request should not come as a surprise to voters because Whately has a five-year capital plan that anticipates replacements.
