An early surge gave the South Hadley girls lacrosse team everything it needed in a 15-4 road win over Chicopee Comp on Thursday.
The Tigers (2-3) jumped out to an 11-2 halftime lead en route to the win in Chicopee.
Marley Medina (two assists) scored seven goals, while Briana Couture (two assists) and Kera Murphy each scored two.
Maddie Mathers, Emma Slysz (assist), Sarah Lacey and Taylor Roy each had one goal.
Hanna Kopec made six saves in the win.
Holyoke 10, Northampton 1 — Will O’Connor doubled to score Devin Kellogg in the fourth inning for the Blue Devils’ only run on the road.
Northampton (2-2, 1-1 Valley Wheel) allowed six runs in the fifth inning, as the game got away.
Granby 12, Pioneer Regoinal 4 — Ben Rokowski went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and a double in a home win.
The Rams (4-1) totaled 17 hits. Noah and Matt Bleakely each had three hits with an RBI.
Sabis 9, Gateway 8 — Brian Battles drove in three runs in a road loss for the Gators.
Joe Jones had three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs for Gateway (0-4, 0-2 Bi-County North).
Softball
Westfield 12, South Hadley 3 — Nicole Conner was 2 for 3, while Ari Williams, Lexi Bogalhas (three walks), Emilee Ottomaniello, Mikhaila Edge, Kate Bishop and Jaiden Plamondon each had one hit in the loss for the Tigers (2-4).
Ludlow 5, Amherst 4 (10) — Aliya Bartmon struck out 17 and allowed just three hits and two walks in an extra-innings road loss.
Frances Brown (RBI) had two hits for Amherst (0-6), while Mikah McNamara had three hits.
The Hurricanes allowed three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as Ludlow tied the game at 4-4.
Chicopee 6, Belchertown 5 — Felicia Verville hit a double and drove in two runs in a road loss.
Lauren Leblanc, Madison Campanale and Hannah Sugrue also had RBIs for Belchertown (0-5, 0-2 Valley Wheel).
Turners Falls 3, Frontier Regional 0 — Hannah LaClaire had two hits, but the Red Hawks (1-4, 1-1 Franklin) were shut out on the road.
Minnechaug 15, South Hadley 8 — Marcus Larrier scored three goals, while Matt Brandst, Jack Dawson, Jason Fernandes (two assists), Stephen Stratton and Shane Smith each scored but the Tigers (2-4, 0-3 Valley Wheel) fell at home.
Hunter Borowski and Griffin Fitzell each had one assist.
Corey Calkins made 15 saves in defeat.
Northampton 12, West Springfield 4 — Matt Huggett scored six goals in a road win for the Blue Devils (4-2).
Henry Attias had two goals and an assist while Luke Melcher added one goal and one assist.
Bryce Wall made the start in net and made sevens saves before giving way to Ryan Heng, who made two saves.
