Two articles in the Jan. 18 edition about recent rape convictions spent several paragraphs detailing the negative impact of conviction on the rapists, but offered not one word about the impact on victims, their families and our communities.
Only one set of people โ the rapists โ had the choice to be in those situations. The victims did not. Please show them the respect of acknowledging the lifelong impact of sexual assault on the survivors, instead of again privileging the perpetrators and portraying them as victims. They are not.
