The local chapter of Friends of Standing Together invites supporters to the weekly vigils on the corner of Pleasant and Main streets in Northampton. We stand for an immediate cease-fire and hostage deal in order to save the lives of innocent Palestinians in Gaza and to bring back the Israeli hostages alive and to achieve a lasting Israeli Palestinian peace.
Standing Together is an Israeli grassroots movement, formed seven years ago, to fight for peace, equality and social justice in the land. It also stands firmly against the occupation. It has a leadership team of 50% Palestinian Israelis and 50% Jewish Israelis. The basic tenets of the organization state that the land is home to both peoples, their futures are intertwined and there will be no true security for anyone until both peoples live with dignity and justice.
Recently, Standing Together organized an 800-person humanitarian guard of volunteers to ensure the safe passage of food supplies to the people of Gaza and protect the supplies from the violent attacks of extreme right wing Israelis. Standing Together also has organized some of the largest peace rallies in Israel.
