The Mount Everett girls basketball team held Gateway Regional scoreless in the first quarter en route to a 51-20 victory in the second round of the Western Massachusetts Division 4 Tournament, Tuesday in Sheffield.
The Fourth-seeded Mounties (14-7) advanced and will host No. 5 Renaissance (21-0) on Friday.
No. 13 Gateway finished the season 14-7.
Lily Waters led the Gators with eight points. Becca Herman added six.
Gwendolyn Carpenter finished with 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals.
โSheโs one of the best point guards Iโve seen in a long time,โ Gateway coach Eli Robbins said of the Everett senior. โSheโs got a very balanced game. She can kill you with her outside shot. Sheโs real tough to play against.โ
The Gators shot 2 of 16 from the floor in the first half.
