After 12 days off, the Frontier Regional girls tennis team was more than eager to get back to work, Wednesday.
The Red Hawks rebounded from a loss in their last outing and got back into the win column with a 4-1 Tri-County League North victory over host Turners Falls.
“It was nice after a little bit of a layoff to come back and get a win,” Frontier first-year coach James Fitzgerald said. “They were anxious to get back at it and they brought so much energy to the court.”
Frontier’s Tori Speth was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Haleigh Greene in the No. 1 singles spot, while teammate Mary Laurens picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win over Izzy Farrick.
The Red Hawks (2-2, 1-1) swept the doubles matches, dropping just two games in the process. The No. 1 tandem of Cassidy Bardwell and Coleman Hartner were 6-1, 6-1 winners over Maria LaBelle and Cece Wood, while Frontier’s Sophia Patten and Jalen Sullivan blanked Mercedes Bailey and Emily Dennison at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0.
