U.S. Rep. Richie Neal found someone to defend against critics of his controversial fundraising excesses. (Jack Connors: Richie Neal is a ‘game-changer’ for Massachusetts, June 24)
Too bad Connors’ column proves those critics’ point. Who better to boast about Neal’s effort to end Republican control of the House than the chairman of Republican Gov. Charlie Baker’s 2018 re-election campaign? Who better to counter charges Neal is too cozy with the health care lobby than a health care industry insider who writes, “Donors expect a certain level of hospitality… at least I do?”
Who better to defend charges Neal is out of touch with his constituents than a Boston millionaire who donor-splains that parties in South Beach luxury hotels are “customary practices?”
Respectfully, Mr. Connors, that’s the problem.
