EMBRACING KO

For 25 years, the Ko Festival of Performance has brought innovative artists from across the country to Amherst College to teach and perform. Ko, the 49th hexagram of the I CHING, means “revolution,” and can be visualized as “a shedding of skin, a sloughing off of the old.” But, this year, organizers have embraced the old, in a sense, inviting past participants to return, albeit with new material. Up first in the five-week program: a workshop, “Dynamic Space/Poetic Object” (July 4-9) and the “Ko Kabaret” (July 8-10). For info. about the shows and workshops, visit www.kofest.com.

ANOTHER GOOD BET

Sam Rush directs New Century Theatre’s “Bakersfield Mist,” Stephen Sachs’ funny play that wonders: Who gets to decide what makes something art, and what determines the value of something — or someone? Through July 9. www.newcenturytheatre.org.
