Taryn Ryan made 13 saves but the young Holyoke girls soccer team fell to Agawam, 5-0, in a weather-shortened game Wednesday afternoon in Holyoke.

The game was stopped with about 2 minutes left in the third quarter when lightning was spotted. After looking at the radar, the officials decided not to wait the required 30 minutes before restarting and instead called the game.

Hope Santaniello scored three goals for Agawam.

Kaiya Thomas-Rivera played well on defense for Holyoke (0-2).

“We’re adjusting,” Holyoke coach Molly Burke said. “It’s taking some time. We have a lot of new freshman this year.”
