The UMass men’s basketball team landed another player from the Woodstock Academy.

Ronnie DeGray III verbally committed to the Minutemen on Monday.

DeGray tweeted: “First of all I would like to thank God for making my dream a reality. I would also like to thank my parents, along with my family members and all of my coaches who have supported me throughout this process. I took a road less traveled to be where I am at today. But With that being said, I have decided to take my talents to the University of Massachusetts!”

DeGray is a 6-foot-7, 220-pound forward from Parker, Colorado. He played his senior high school season (2018-19) for current UMass assistant coach Tony Bergeron at Woodstock Academy in Connecticut. As a post graduate, DeGray and the Centaurs finished 28-9 following a loss to Scotland Campus in the second round of the National Prep Championship Tournament at Connecticut College in New London. DeGray finished with 17 points in defeat.

“UMass is getting a very versatile student-athlete,” Woodstock Academy head coach Jacque Rivera said in a report on newenglandrecruitingreport.com. “Ronnie’s game has matured a great deal this year. I think in this climate of transfers, Ronnie is one of the few prep kids who is ready and prepared to step on the court from day one. His ability to pass, shoot, and post gives UMass something they don’t have. He has the highest of character and morals.”

DeGray is a three-star recruit according to rivals.com.

Bergeron’s connection has given UMass a direct pipeline to Woodstock.

Forward Dyondre Dominguez, DeGray’s teammate, verbally committed to UMass in February. Cairo McCrory signed in November.

Noah Fernandes played for Bergeron at Woodstock and is transferring to UMass following his freshman season at Wichita State.

Current Minutemen Preston Santos, T.J. Weeks, Dibaji Walker and Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year Tre Mitchell all played at Woodstock.
