BELCHERTOWN — An alleged drunk driver injured himself after his vehicle crashed into a home on Chestnut Drive, according to police.

Belchertown police, fire and ambulance responded to the accident around just before 8:40 p.m.

According to police, a car driven by a 35-year-old Belchertown resident traveled 202 feet across several lawns before crashing into the house.

The occupants of the house were home at the time, but not injured, police said.

The man, whose identity was not released, was arrested at the scene and charged with operating under the influence of liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, according to police.

Police said the man was subsequently transported to Wing Memorial Hospital in Palmer for treatment of minor injuries.

He was arraigned Wednesday at the Eastern Hampshire District Court in Belchertown.
