Police responded to a Market Hill Road residence at 7:44 p.m. Thursday after a teenage girl home alone reported being awoken by voices and footsteps of two male intruders. Police determined that a voicemail system playing over a loudspeaker in the living room was responsible for the sounds.

Northampton

 Kenneth Leo English, 51, who lists his address as the streets of Northampton, was arrested at 175 Main St. at 6:04 a.m. Saturday. Police said English was sleeping in a bank ATM area when an officer arrested him on two warrants for a municipal ordinance violation and shoplifting.

Ricardo Jose Mondriguez, 40, of Springfield, was arrested at 12:30 a.m. Saturday for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (second offense) in the area of Interstate 91 and Mount Tom Road. Police said Mondriguez also was charged with having an expired inspection sticker. 

Police found approximately three pounds of marijuana in the car driven by Marco Barroso, 20, of Florence at 7:21 p.m. Friday after he was stopped  for speeding on Elm Street. Police said Barroso showed signs of impairment by drugs and failed a field sobriety test. He was arrested for operating while under the influence and possession with intent to distribute a Class D substance.

Gary Joseph McHugh, 64, who lists his address as the streets of Northampton, was arrested at 4:53 p.m. Friday near 243 Pleasant St. on a warrant issued by Holyoke District Court. Police said an officer familiar with McHugh noticed him sitting in the passenger side of a vehicle. The officer ran a check, discovered there was a warrant for McHugh and arrested him. The officer found heroin in McHugh’s possession and he was charged with possession of a Class A drug, police said.

A tractor-trailer became stuck under the Main Street railroad bridge Friday afternoon, causing over $1,000 in damage to the truck. Police said the truck driver was westbound on Route 9 and failed to heed the height warning. The truck got stuck at 3:26 p.m. and the area was cleared by 4:44 p.m.
