EASTHAMPTON — No criminal charges will be filed in the death of a 5-year-old girl who was found unresponsive at Treehouse Circle in late 2018, the Northwestern district attorney’s office said Saturday.

Mary Carey, spokeswoman for the district attorney, said the office of the chief medical examiner found that the cause of the little girl’s death was “undetermined” and that police concluded their investigation after finding no evidence of criminal activity surrounding the death, she said.

Easthampton police were called to Treehouse Circle on Dec. 21, 2018 for a report of an unresponsive child, according to a Gazette report from the time. First responders provided the girl medical aid on scene and took her to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, where she was pronounced dead.

Massachusetts State Police detectives attached to the district attorney’s office, the Easthampton Police Department and the chief medical examiner’s office jointly investigated the girl’s death, Carey said.
