SOUTH HADLEY – The Northampton golf team kept its undefeated season alive on Wednesday, taking down South Hadley, 155-167, on a warm and blue-skied afternoon at Ledges Golf Course.

Firing a round of 2-under, Galen Fowles led the Blue Devils (6-0) to victory with an overall score of 34 on nine holes.

Trailing closely behind Galen was his brother, Reilly Fowles (38), as well as Ben O’Connor (38) and Gus Fallon (46) who also figured into the team’s scoring total.

“[Galen and Reilly] are very reliable,” Northampton coach Bob Boulrice said. “It’s a pleasure watching them compete. Even though they’ll have bad holes, it’s never two in a row, and they always bounce back.”

On the other hand, South Hadley looked to put its best foot forward to keep the match as close as possible facing a strong Northampton team.

South Hadley’s top four scorers were Ryan MacGregor (40), Bennett Allen (43), John Viola (43), and Caiden Drohan (46).

Despite a slow start, MacGregor was able to get into a groove late in the match and turn his game around.

“Our number one, MacGregor, had a tough start today, but then he had four birdies on his last five holes and finished strong,” South Hadley coach Jason Bourque said. “Just eliminate one bad hole and he’ll be fine.”

Looking ahead, Northampton aims to continue its winning streak Thursday against Minnechaug at the Country Club of Wilbraham. As for South Hadley, the Tigers look to get back on the saddle as they face Amherst on Thursday back at Ledges.
