The MIAA announced the seeds for the Western Massachusetts Girls Soccer Tournaments on Wednesday afternoon, only to retract the brackets due to an error.

MIAA officials reconvened at Northampton High School and the seeds were re-released Wednesday night.

Granby was the original top seed in Division 4 and the Rams stayed there later in the night.

โ€œI donโ€™t see any of the top four seeds changing,โ€ Granby coach Bob Weaver said prior to the final seeds being released.

The Rams (10-5-3) won the last two Western Massachusetts Division 3 titles but dropped down during the offseason.

โ€œNothing has affected our preparation,โ€ Weaver said. โ€œWe played a challenging schedule. We are not taking anyone for granted.โ€

The Rams have Nora Young, Trystin Burger and Summer Molin leading a potent offense.

Julia Gauvin will play her first playoff game in net for Granby.

โ€œShe has made huge strides,โ€ Weaver said. โ€œShe never played goalie before. She got a lot of work against a hard schedule.โ€

Granby will host either No. 8 Lee (9-8) or No. 9 Westfield Tech (9-5-3) in the quarterfinals.

Gateway coach Steve Estelle, who has coached with the Gators 28 years, hadnโ€™t seen a situation where seeds were re-released.

โ€œI havenโ€™t heard that explanation before,โ€ Estelle said. โ€œSome computer error in the program.โ€

Gateway stayed as a No. 2 seed and received a bye in the first round.

The Gators will play the winner of No. 7 Hopkins Academy (9-7-2) and No. 10 Smith Voke (9-8).

โ€œThis is a young team,โ€ Estelle said. โ€œBut I expect them to play well.โ€

The Gators feature the programโ€™s all-time leading scorer in Jessica Van Heynigen and a solid defender in Juliana Dickinson.

Ava Auclair has played well in the midfield, and goalie Becca Herman is playoff tested.

Division 1

Northampton (12-3-3) was a No. 3 seed when the brackets originally came out and the Blue Devils stayed there. Only their opponent changed.

The new brackets have Northampton hosting No. 6 Belchertown (7-7-4) instead of Westfield.

โ€œI had set tomorrow for film on Westfield,โ€ Northampton coach Vanesssa Patry said. โ€œBut we have a long time until we play.โ€

The Blue Devils have won eight straight matches.

โ€œWe are having fun playing soccer,โ€ Patry said. โ€œThings are working.โ€

Senior Emma Tanner is back to full speed after spraining her right MCL during practice in mid-October and missing a couple games.

โ€œIt made me appreciate playing, Tanner said. โ€œIt allowed other players to take on other roles. I think it helped our team.โ€

With Tanner on the sideline, it allowed other players to become more comfortable finding the net. Caroline Tanner, Brigitte Goeler-Slough and Bailey Maurer all have the ability to score for the Blue Devils.

After a loss to Chicopee Comp, the seniors got together.

โ€œWe had a talk about what we want from our season,โ€ Emma Tanner said. โ€œWe realized that this is our last season, and that we need to make it special.โ€

Division 3

South Hadley (16-1-1) is the top seed in Division 3, with Hampshire Regional (8-7-1) getting a No. 8 seed.

The Tigers will play the winner of the Raidersโ€™ first-round home game against No. 9 Hoosac Valley (6-5-5).

No. 10 Frontier is (12-3-2) will travel to play Mount Greylock (9-6-2).

Dates and times for all matches have not been determined.
