The mayor of Northampton has appointed a new director of the senior center (“Senior services pick gets pushback,” April 6).
What could have been a seamless and smooth transition has been completely undone by the mayor not appointing the current assistant director, Heather Cahillane. Heather has dedicated five years and well over 40 hours a week to the center. She has the education and experience to have been an exemplary director.
The City Council may vote down the mayor’s appointment. I implore the City Council to listen to their constituents, the senior center staff, volunteers and members to do what is truly best for the senior center.
