A pair of teams punched their postseason tickets with victories over the weekend.
On Sunday, the Smith Academy boys soccer team qualified for the Western Massachusetts Division 4 Tournament with a 2-1 victory over Hopkins Academy in Hatfield.
The Falcons (4-8) qualified via the Sullivan Rule. It will be their first postseason appearance since 2014.
The Gateway Regional girls soccer team shut out Mahar, 2-0, to qualify for the Division 4 tournament, Saturday in Huntington. The Gators (8-2-0) reached the semifinal round last season.
Smith Academy 2, Hopkins Academy 1 โ Sam Dadmun scored twice for the Falcons. Wyatt Jeffress assisted Dadmun on the first goal. Mike Basset assisted Dadmun less than a minute into the second half.
Dougie Pierce tied the game for the Golden Hawks midway through the first half.
Ryan Belina made six saves, including several important stops in the second half for Smith.
Erik Berg and Jack Feltovic combined for four saves for Hopkins (6-6-1).
South Hadley 2, Gateway Regional 1 โ The Tigers (9-2-2, 7-1-1 Schmid) extended their point streak to four games (2-0-2) with the road win, Saturday.
The Gators (3-7-1, 3-5-1) dropped their third straight.
Hopkins Academy 2, Smith Academy 1 โ Samantha Jenks and Tia Fyden scored second-half goals as the Golden Hawks rallied in Hatfield, Sunday.
AJ Mitchell assisted both goals and Gabby Palmisano made three saves for Hopkins (3-9).
Maggie Hession gave the Falcons an early lead with an assist from Skylar Zygmont. Maddie Bell made six saves for Smith (5-6-1).
Gateway Regional 2, Mahar 0 โ The Gators (8-2) snapped the Senatorsโ 11-game win streak with the win.
Peyton Bucko gave Gateway momentum into halftime with a goal about minute before the break. Hannah Duggan had the assist.
Erin Harris added an insurance goal, a strike from about 25 yards out with 10 minutes left. Nina Iglesias had the assist.
The defense of Charlotte Kazalski, Iglesias, Angie Wright, sweeper Hannah Coffey and goalie Becca Herman kept Mahar sophomore Delaney Parker (95 points) off the scoreboard.
South Hadley 9, Smith Academy 0 โ Corryn Moroney netted three goals, while Kayla Carleton (assist) and Savannah Sudyka each scored twice as the Tigers (6-5-1) rolled in South Hadley, Saturday.
Olivia Wilson (assist) and Gabi Moroney each had one goal. Emma Rahilly, Breann Foley and Abbie Carey had one assist apiece, while Maddie Fonrtaine made four saves in the shutout.
Taegan Cavanaugh made 20 saves for the Falcons (1-7-3).
Mount Greylock 3, Amherst Regional 1 โ Jordan Machowski had four aces and Amelia Beigel had 24 assists, but the Hurricanes fell 25-22, 25-23, 20-25, 25-11 on the road, Saturday.
Erin Klaes had eight kills, while Tricia Sittauer, Julia Feldman and Olivia Hogans each had four. Jen Hodgkins had 26 digs.
On Friday, the Hurricanes lost to Minnechaug, 3-1. The Falcons won 25-22, 25-17, 20-25, 25-16.
Hogans had 11 kills, Beigel had 21 assists and Hodgkins added 20 digs.
