Criticizes Rosenberg’s retirement filing coverage

All day on June 13 I ran into people who were astonished and saddened by the Daily Hampshire Gazette’s sensationalized and mean-spirited coverage of Stan Rosenberg’s filing retirement paperwork (“Rosenberg names spouse as pension beneficiary,” June 13).

We have come to expect this kind of hysteria from the Boston Globe, but not from the Gazette. The Gazette seems unaware of how deeply popular Stan Rosenberg is in his district, and how grateful so many of us are for his selfless 38-plus years of service to our district, even when we didn’t agree with his every vote. Would this kind of coverage hound a straight married couple?

Surely the Gazette is capable of a more nuanced article that includes quotes from local constituents and the fact that Bryon Hefner has not been found guilty of any crime. This is actually quite a fascinating story, but not the way the Gazette has chosen to tell it.
