Finds Trump not very Scout-like

On July 16, I was the master of ceremonies for Logan Hunt’s Eagle Court of Honor.

The article in the newspaper (“Life ring buoy, 21 badges give Eagle Scout wings,” July 17) highlighted the major points of the ceremony and the work Logan completed for the community following the standards of Boy Scouts. It is a lot of work and it’s hard. I know this as I’m working on my Eagle project now.

This week I saw President Donald Trump’s speech at the National Scout Jamboree. I found it interesting to listen to his speech, but he didn’t seem to know what Boy Scouting is all about.

There are 12 points in the Scout Law. It says, “A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.” In Trump’s speech, he called people out if they disagreed with his ideas and was disrespectful to former President Obama. That is not very Scout-like.

Scouting is about being respectful and helping your community and country. That is why we celebrated Logan’s achieving Eagle Scout.
