AMHERST — UMass football coach Mark Whipple stopped short of guaranteeing that Andrew Ford and Adam Breneman would play when the Minutemen face Ohio Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at McGuirk Stadium.

“Those guys practiced. Everybody practiced. They should be (able to play),” Whipple said after practice. “We’ll see how they feel tomorrow.”

Ford, a junior quarterback, is eighth in the nation with 1,333 yards passing. He’s completed 101 of 157 passes with seven touchdowns and one interception. He was sidelined at the end of the third quarter against Tennessee.

Breneman, a senior tight end, leads UMass in catches (24) and receiving yards (369). He missed Saturday’s game after re-aggravating an ankle injury at Temple.

Right tackle Jack Driscoll, and Lee Moses, who both missed the end of Saturday’s loss to Tennessee, returned to practice.

Both are expected to go. Whipple said having Driscoll was critical.

“He’s our best lineman. He doesn’t make mistakes,” he said. “He’s a really good player.”

Moses has started all five games at cornerback so far.
