Snow Mounds

Route 9, Belchertown

Photograph and text by Georgette deFriesse, Belchertown

I headed out for a walk with my dogs as soon as the snow stopped after a recent snowstorm. Our route takes us along the Jabish Brook, where I saw these three mounds of snow piled high on relatively flat stones in the brook. The goldenrod stalk was a relic of the drought; normally that part of the brook would have been under water.

I captured this image with a handheld DSLR using a medium telephoto lens.
