NORTHAMPTON – Animal control has rescued an injured red-tailed hawk in the city.

Animal Control Officer Shayla Howe was called to Industrial Drive Monday morning for a report that a red-tailed hawk had been hit by a truck, the Northampton Police Department said in a post on its Facebook page. Howe located the bird, which was found to have a broken right wing.

Raptor rehabilitator Tom Ricardi is able to take the bird at his Massachusetts Birds of Prey Rehab Facility in Conway, police said.
