The Southampton Heat scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Greenfield, 9-8, in the first round of the 14U Suburban softball playoffs, Monday at Hampshire Regional in Westhampton.

Hannah Wodecki scored the winning run on a passed ball. She doubled in the seventh to score two runs.

McKenzie McCarthy, Hailey Wodecki and Abby McClaflin were all 2-for-3.

Jocelyn Mettey picked up the win with five strikeouts.

Southampton, the No. 2 seed, plays at No. 3 West Springfield at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at Mittneague Park.

Frontier Red 12, Frontier Blue 0 (6) — Holly Myers locked down Frontier Blue in the 12U Suburban softball playoffs, allowing just one hit over six innings with eight strikeouts. She also contributed two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs.

Cassidi Mushenski drove in the game-ending run in the sixth inning.

Brianna Storozuk (double, three RBIs) and Ashley Taylor (two RBIs) had two hits each.

Anna Dyjek and Ally Hutoski both had a hit and an RBI each.

Frontier Red, the third seed, will travel to No. 2 Agawam on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Fields.
