The Williston Northampton girls hockey team carried a three-goal lead in the second period and defeated Westminster, 3-1, Wednesday at Lossone Rink in Easthampton.
Bryn Saarela, Kate Holmes and Emily Zambrano found the net in a home win. Tayah Sommer picked up the win in goal.
Williston 56, Westminster 26 โSarah Sullivan scored 14 points in a home win. Emma Gentile and Easthamptonโs Cristina Negron added 12 points each.
Canterbury 74, Williston 66 โ Tyler Thomas had 22 points for the Wildcats. John Kelly scored 14, while Andre Washington had nine and Nik Kovasevic eight.
The Williston boys team placed fifth in the third Mount Institute Ski League race of the season at Berkshire East in Charlemont.
Williston finished with 152 points, finishing behind Deerfield A (308), Northfield Mount Hermon A (291), Eaglebrook (245), and Deerfield B (198).
Gavin Kline was eighth with a combined slalom time of 73.16 seconds for the Wildcats.
Northfield Mount Hermonโs Isaac Foster finished first (68.21).
The Williston girls team also finished fifth with 71 points, putting them behind North Mount Hermon A (197), Deerfield A (160), North Mount Hermon B (133), and Wilbraham and Monson (98).
Deerfield Academyโs Kikka Giudici placed first with a combined slalom time of 70.66 seconds.
Willistonโs Lily Shields finished just outside the Top 10 with a time of 83.65 seconds, good for 11th place.
Chloe Denhart, competing as an independent, finished in seventh (80.67).
