“It’s a great time to be a father,” says Florence illustrator and graphic designer Rob Kimmel. “The conventions of earlier generations have collapsed, allowing us to define masculinity and fatherhood in new ways. We can participate in our kids’ lives in ways that used to be reserved for mothers. And we can be freer with our emotions, more flexible in our roles and spend far more time with our children than our fathers and grandfathers.”

In celebration of these developments, Kimmel has organized “Some Pops,” a small-group exhibit by local artist-fathers exploring the theme of “Daddiness” in the 21st century.

Opening with a reception Saturday, 5-8 p.m., at ECA+ Gallery in Easthampton, the show includes work by Matthew Choberka, Adam Connor, Jay Cooper, James Hindle, Riccardo Mazzei, Aeric Meredith-Goujon and Kimmel.

ECA+ Gallery is at 43 Main St. in Easthampton. easthamptoncityarts.com
