Andrew Ciaglo had 31 points as the Hopkins Academy boys basketball team beat Mahar, 62-58, to clinch a share of the Hampshire South title, Thursday in Orange.

The Golden Hawks (12-5, 5-1) can clinch the title outright with a victory over Turners Falls, Monday in Hadley. Turners (9-9, 3-3), Belchertown (7-9, 3-3) and Mahar (8-7, 2-3) are still alive.

Ciaglo had six 3-pointers in the win. Four of them came during the third quarter when Hopkins outscored Mahar 21-8. The Golden Hawks trailed 34-25 at halftime.

Ryan Antes added 12 points, while Colin Earle had eight.

Central 90, Northampton 44 โ€” Max Lockett scored a team-high 12 points for the Blue Devils (4-12, 1-5 Valley) in the home loss. Gavin Bullock chipped in 10 points.

Northampton was held scoreless in the first quarter, but had a productive second quarter with 17 points.

โ€œWe were able to defend and rebound in the second quarter,โ€ Northampton coach Rey Harp said. โ€œWe were getting good shots in the first quarter but they were not falling. We were able to gather ourselves a bit.โ€

Frontier Regional 62, Smith Academy 32 โ€”Collin Boudreau scored a game-high 15 points for the Red Hawks (13-3, 6-0 Hampshire North) in Hatfield. Gabe Jones-Thomson and Brett Robinson each chipped in 11 points.

Wyatt Jeffress scored a team-high 12 points for the Falcons (4-13, 1-5 Hampshire North).

Frontier outscored Smith Academy, 23-4, in the third quarter to pull away.

Turners Falls 62, Belchertown 49 โ€” Jordan Lanoue scored a game-high 24 points for the visiting Orioles (7-9, 3-3 Hampshire South). Austin Endelos chipped in 10 points.

Amherst Regional 51, Pope Francis 47 โ€” Evan Stewart scored a team-high 13 points to help lead the Hurricanes (7-8, 3-3 Valley) at home. Zayd Sadiq chipped in 11 points.

Hockey

West Springfield 6, Easthampton 3 โ€” The Terriers scored three goals in the third period to pull away from a stalemate after two periods at Lossone Rink.

Matt Sullivan had a goal and two assists, while Garren Fugiel (assist) and Ryan Oโ€™Connor each scored once for the Eagles (1-11-1). Jayden Darling made 35 saves.

Greenfield 2, Belchertown 1 โ€” Sammy Knight and Kevin Baumann each scored for the Green Wave (15-2-0) at the Mullins Center Practice Rink. Porter Clancy, Bryan Baumann, Shane Prusak and Mike McGoldrick each had one assist.

Riley Drew made 25 saves in the win.

Andrew Fijal scored from Cody Samson for the Orioles (6-7-2). Jake Delaney made 36 saves.
