The Opinion page cartoon on April 28 portraying President Donald Trump as Captain Queeg and the famous “strawberry incident” in Hermon Wouk’s “The Caine Mutiny” reminded me that I made exactly the same comparison in a letter to the Gazette (March 20, 2017).
A year later, the analogy is all the stronger, including my conclusion in that letter: “The parallel with Trump however breaks down because Queeg himself was not under investigation when the strawberry incident occurred — and he was not president of the United States seeking to divert attention from his Russian connections.”
