HATFIELD — Voters at the annual town election on Tuesday rejected a debt exclusion question affecting repairs to the Town Hall, and re-elected two officials.
The debt exclusion question would have exempted from Proposition 2½ funding for repairs to the Town Hall which would have brought it into compliance with code provisions involved an exterior ramp, elevator and fire suppression system. It was voted down 257-246. The measure also failed to get a two-thirds majority vote to pass at the annual Town Meeting on May 10.
In the only contested races, Marcus J. Boyle was re-elected to the Select Board, and Stanley J. Pitchko Jr. was re-elected assessor.
Boyle received 336 votes to 167 for Barry J. Labbe and 95 for Robert Flaherty Jr.
Pitchko defeated Christopher G. Smith by a vote of 403-172.
