I attended the Taste of Northampton with my family on Saturday, and it was wonderful to see so many people out enjoying delicious food, live music, and a car-free downtown on a beautiful day. How disappointing that there wasn’t a waste station where vendors and diners could toss their compost and recycle. Compostable containers are no better than plastic if they end up in the trash. Northampton is full of people with the know-how to set up composting and the desire to do the right thing. Plenty of similar events have been great models of handling waste responsibly. Let’s do better next year!
